Description
Summary:Here is a presentation of a survey of the recently obtained results concerning an estimation of the position of a source of emission on the plane resulting from the observations produced by K detectors. The two cases are considered: the first one when the moment of an emission start is known and the second when both the position and the time of an emission have to be estimated. In both cases, the properties of the maximum likelihood estimates, Bayesian estimates and the least squares estimates of the source position or both the source position and the time of an emission are described. The estimate properties are studied for the case of the small observation errors only. Special attention is paid to the description of the mean square errors and the distribution of errors. It is shown that these errors strongly depend on the type of the regularity of the fronts of the arriving signals.
