Summary:Various complaints and the emergence of a paradigm that women seafarers are treated discriminatorily. As well as the finding of a phenomenon that it is suspected that shipping companies are reluctant to employ women seafarers on the grounds of technical problems, IN addition, if they have to mix with man seafarers in one ship and there are shipping companies that close opportunities for female seafarers on reasons of the limited working period, the assumption of a decision after marriage is not will return to sailing, becomes the background of the theme of this research. This research aims to find out, compare, and analyze the influence of gender on the ability to adapt to life on board. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research with document study techniques and semi-structured interviews. The research results obtained that although male and female seafarers have different attitudes in dealing with various forms of work challenges, every male and female seafarer can find an ideal solution in dealing with each of these challenges.
