A low-temperature method for measuring oxygen storage capacity of ceria-containing oxides
A new method of investigation of oxygen storage capacity (OSC) of ceria-containing oxides in a wide range of temperatures is considered. Usually, the approach is based on using CO oxidation with oxygen released from the lattice of ceria-containing oxides. However, the low activity of ceria in this r...

Summary: | A new method of investigation of oxygen storage capacity (OSC) of ceria-containing oxides in a wide range of temperatures is considered. Usually, the approach is based on using CO oxidation with oxygen released from the lattice of ceria-containing oxides. However, the low activity of ceria in this reaction at low temperature limits the whole process of OSC measurement. Therefore, the new method suggests the addition of a more active catalyst Pt/Al

to a ceria-containing oxide to facilitate the CO oxidation step. A correlation between the OSC and effectiveness of the three-way catalysts (TWC) is also presented. The method allows studying the OSC at lower temperatures. The results are utterly essential for understanding of the behavior of TWC and thus for their development. The method can be useful for development of catalysts based on ceria-containing oxides aimed for many other applications.

to a ceria-containing oxide allows studying oxygen storage capacity at lower temperatures. The advantage is achieved through separation of functions of oxygen storage/release and CO oxidation. |
