Summary:	In an earlier issue of 'Script and Print' I identified the first volume of Henry Stebbing's two-volume edition of the 'Complete poetical works' of William Cowper, published in London in 1837, as being the earliest example known to me in which there exist two sets of signatures, on the basis of which the volume could apparently be imposed for gathering either in twelves or in eights. In possessing duplicate signatures the Stebbing 'Cowper' anticipates the earliest examples of that phenomenon hitherto reported on - certain volumes published in the United States in the second half of the nineteenth century - and is therefore of some historical interest, even if its present priority proves to be, following a more exhaustive canvass, only temporary.
