Summary: | Meanwhile, most enterprises of the Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA) are losing, prompting Sen. Richard J. Gordon to suggest that these be privatized or opened for joint venture instead. Total expected losses of all PTA enterprises for this year amount to P25.8 million, while expected losses for next year are pegged at P11.4 million. Of 12 PTA enterprises, only the Tagaytay Picnic Grove and Club Intramuros Golf Course earned, with P17 million and P1.4 million, respectively. Duty-Free Philippines (DFP), meanwhile, announced it will increase the salaries of its employees next year. DFP general manager Michael Christian Kho said that, just recently, the Budget department gave the go signal for a salary increase for DFP employees. He said that though a salary adjustment was approved last year by former Tourism Secretary Roberto Pagdanganan, an administrative order issued by Malacanang suspended all salary increases. The region covers the provinces of South Cotabato, North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani, as well as the cities of General Santos, Koronadal, Tacurong, Kidapawan and Cotabato. |
