Summary: | One major trend in association computing is that associations will be retiring their minicomputer systems and moving toward networked personal computers. Two significant subtrends are emerging: 1. Small to medium-sized associations appear to be establishing local area networks. 2. Larger associations are moving into client-server technology. There has been a movement toward Windows-based association management software. The advent of Windows-based software has enabled associations to integrate off-the-shelf software with their existing applications. Arguably the most interesting development in association management software is the merger of the electronic office with new software applications. |
