Description
Summary:Local area networks (LANs) continue to assume increasing critical roles in network computing environments. As their tasks become more important, so the pressure on network managers to ensure high performance and reliability also increases. Managers are turning to network design and optimization software in an effort to meet those demands. The software allows managers to design networks from scratch, determining where potential bottlenecks will occur, and testing new configurations. Low-end tools simply map out and document a physical network configuration, while high-end products can do network simulation and modeling. High-end tools are essentially complex programming environments. Detailed is a buyer's guide to available design and optimization tools on the market.
