Summary: | In an interview, Catherine Lavallee-Welch, director of the library at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, talked about what attracted her to the profession of librarianship in the first place. She said she found out, and it was in a little bit of an indirect way, that she had an uncle who was an archivist for Quebec City, which for an archivist is one of the best places to work in the province of Quebec, and maybe all of Canada. Quebec City is one of the oldest cities in North America. Personally, she really likes history. She likes the humanities and social sciences, and she thought what he did was completely fascinating. So, with her love of history and her natural curiosity, she thought being an archivist would be really interesting. She did her undergrad degree in history, with a minor concentration in records and archives management. Then she started to work, and all the jobs she could find were in records management. |
