Description
Summary:It is suggested that foam compositions containing a film-producing material be used to increase worker safety and decrease aerosol emissions during disassembly of contaminated equipment and decommissioning of nuclear objects. Confining films make it possible to simplify the technology for depositing protective coatings in the presence of strong radiation fields and in inaccessible locations. The mechanisms of the formation of confining films on stainless steel from foam based on polyvinyl alcohol and OP-10 preparation are determined and the isolating properties for contamination of surfaces by fission products are estimated.
