Summary: | Explored was the role of political discourse in forming an effective social/regional political bloc in Quebec during the Duplessis regime. Four levels of analysis were applied to selected political texts: the text itself, descriptions of the text, exploration of the text; & intertextual comparisons. It is shown that Duplessist discourse did have an effect on the political transformation of Quebec between 1936 & 1960. The findings provide further support for the necessity of developing a sociological theory of representation. B. Annesser Murray |
