Genetic Background and Expressivity of Histocompatibility Genes

A difference in the reactivity of F$_{1}$ hybrid female mice to skin grafts from male donors of each of their parental strains suggests that the genetic background can influence the efficacy of the Y antigen to elicit rejection of the graft.
