Crystallization of Cytochrome c-553 in Aerobically Grown Pseudomonas denitrificans
Cytochrome c-553 was crystallized from the soluble fraction of aerobically grown cells of Pseudomonas denitrificans. Its molecular weight was estimated to be 45,000. It had two haem prosthetic groups per molecule; one of them showed reduced α-peak at about 551 mμ and the other at about 555 mμ. Their...

Summary: | Cytochrome c-553 was crystallized from the soluble fraction of aerobically grown cells of Pseudomonas denitrificans. Its molecular weight was estimated to be 45,000. It had two haem prosthetic groups per molecule; one of them showed reduced α-peak at about 551 mμ and the other at about 555 mμ. Their E0′ (pH7) values were estimated to be −0.09 V and between 0 and −0.09 V, respectively. The cytochrome was readily autooxidizable. The ferro-form reacted with CO, and the ferro-and ferri-forms reacted with KCN at pH 7. |
