Summary:Despite current advances in diagnosis, staging, and treatment, carcinoma of the lung remains the leading cause of death from cancer in both men and women. Non-small cell lung cancer represents approximately 80% of all new lung cancer cases; however, only one-third of these cases will undergo surgical resection for tumor control. This article reviews the evaluation, latest re-visions in staging, and surgical management of non-small cell lung cancer.
