Summary: | A rise in serum creatine kinase (CK) concentration has been reported as a feature of WNV infection.3,4 Until now, severe, full-blown rhabdomyolysis as a feature of WNV infection has never been described. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Arbonet network, the virus has been isolated from 138 species of bird and 43 species of mosquito since 1999. Counter immune electrophoresis was negative for Haemophilus influenzae, group B streptococci, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Neisseria meningitidis antigens. |
