Description
Summary:Michel Simonin's Danger de vie ([The Danger of Life] 1986), while no longer in print, is described as one of France's most important early works on AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome). The autobiographical coverage of both Simonin's life in the 1980s & the construction of his homosexual identity are discussed, focusing on his experience both in the early stages of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection & when he had full-blown AIDS. Other works related to AIDS & homosexual identity are compared to Simonin's book, showing how writing about AIDS in France has changed since the 1980s. D. Weibel
