| Summary: | There is now expansion of sociology of sport in countries of the Third World at the same time that there is overall saturation on a level of continued high productivity. Major national centers reflect in topical areas problems of their society or their form of sport organization. Theoretical sophistication is limited. It is suggested that sociology of sport not only continue to emphasize topics genuine to the field of sport such as conflict, stratification, non-utility and the body. Future orientation should focus on a new form of structuralism (Stegmüller). Non-statement structural theory will go beyond hypothesis-testing and the D-N-model. The action theory of von Wright is suggested as a respective approach for that level understanding sport action as determined by intention, institutional norms, capability and situative context. |
