Summary: | It is argued that economic & medical changes necessitate substantial revision of the tables used by Spain's Social Security bureau to calculate rates of mortality among pensioners disabled in work-related accidents. New rates calculated on the basis of data for 1974 to 1978 indicate that the outdated tables had excessively high mortality rates & underestimated life expectancy by as much as 11 years, resulting in a shortage of capital for paying lifetime pensions. 13 Tables, 3 Figures.
