US Foreign Policy and Enlarging the Democratic Community

Forsythe and Rieffer offer a brief overview of US efforts to advance democracy abroad during the 1990s. They suggest that US ad hoc diplomacy gives too much attention to strategic and self-interested economic pursuits to make a consistent impact for liberal democracy abroad.
