Description
Summary:It is suggested that the year 1989, which saw the fall of communism in Eastern/Central Europe, is best understood as the unleashing of several hermeneutic principles that are in the process of reinterpreting & deconstructing political principles that came before it. One important such principle, political monism, is fragmented into several constituent parts, included in which are the notion of a volk vs the notion of class, & the relationship between the political Left & Right. These principles are interpreted against the backdrop of events in 1989 & after. Finally, important consequences of 1989 for critical & normative theorizing within Eastern Europe are considered. D.
