Polarization of L-shell REC photons following the capture into highly charged ions

Density matrix theory is applied to explore the radiative electron capture into the exited states of highly charged, heavy ions. Emphasis is placed on the linear polarization of the recombination photons. Detailed computations have been carried out for the Stokes parameters of the X-ray emission fol...

Description
Summary:Density matrix theory is applied to explore the radiative electron capture into the exited states of highly charged, heavy ions. Emphasis is placed on the linear polarization of the recombination photons. Detailed computations have been carried out for the Stokes parameters of the X-ray emission following the electron recombination into 2 s 1 / 2 and 2 p 3 / 2 states of bare uranium ions U 92 + and for a wide range of projectile energies.
