Elastic anomalies of single crystalline SmRu4P12 near metal–insulator transition

We have measured the elastic constants C44 and of SmRu4P12 single crystal as a function of temperature in the magnetic field. It shows a characteristic elastic softening near metal-insulator (M-I) transition at . The results accord with those of polycrystalline sample. It undergoes a successive tran...

Description
Summary:We have measured the elastic constants C44 and of SmRu4P12 single crystal as a function of temperature in the magnetic field. It shows a characteristic elastic softening near metal-insulator (M-I) transition at . The results accord with those of polycrystalline sample. It undergoes a successive transition at . The successive anomaly at T* is markedly enhanced by the application of a magnetic field. In addition to the elastic anomalies at TMI and T*, a small but clear kink structure appears below T* in only in the field above 5T.
