Description
Summary:The authors introduce a proximity impedance matrix which can be added to the original impedance matrix of an air-cored reactor to account for proximity effects. This matrix may be added to the standard impedance matrix of the reactor to take into account the effect of eddy losses on the current distribution among the parallel layers of the reactor. Partial proximity matrices are also introduced, which may be used to find the distribution of active power loss among the layers, which is necessary to predict the temperature rises of the layers. The derivation of the proximity impedance matrix and the underlying assumptions are discussed. Results obtained for a typical reactor are presented.< >
