Summary: | The authors deserve congratulations for conceptualizing a rather difficult problem of estimating the amount of oxygen transferred to the water body due to atmospheric reaeration at the free surfaces of wide rectangular channels using dimensional analysis. The discusser appreciates the exhaustive effort undertaken by the authors in formulating a new comprehensive theoretical approach to characterize the reaeration process. The basic assumption in such an analysis is that any complete and correct equation must be dimensionally homogeneous. The discusser, however, has certain reservations on the applicability of the methodology as proposed by the authors. |
