Summary: | Molten cast aluminomagnesia refractory materials containing up to 28.3% MgO (MgAl2O4) were investigated. It was shown that materials with 10-15% MgO have a complex structure and phase composition. The latter can be regarded as a solid solution of corundum and spinel or as a combination of MgO.2.5Al2O3. The behaviour of these materials in molten TK16 and K8 glass was investigated, looking at the effect of MgO content. The corrosion resistance of the refractory was not improved by substantial additions of MgO. 2 refs. |
