Summary: | The recycling of waste glass powder by means of compaction using the hydrothermal hot pressing process was evaluated. Using a powder of bin waste glass with particle size between 46 and 53 micron, studies were made of the effects of water content and temperature on the tensile strength and the apparent density of solidified compacts. These variables had a more significant effect on the compaction of the powder than the loading pressure and the reaction interval. Increase of either temperature or water content led to the continuous formation of a new phase which resulted in the filling of residual intergranular pores and an abrupt hardening. 13 refs. |
