The reactive wetting and incorporation of B4C particles into molten aluminium

It has been found that B4C particles can be introduced into molten Al if a flux containing Ti is used. The number of particles transferred to the melt depends on the level of Ti present in the flux. Incorporation is facilitated by reaction between the particles and the flux to produce a complex, wet...

Description
Summary:It has been found that B4C particles can be introduced into molten Al if a flux containing Ti is used. The number of particles transferred to the melt depends on the level of Ti present in the flux. Incorporation is facilitated by reaction between the particles and the flux to produce a complex, wettable TiB2/TiB/TiC reaction layer and is aided by the evolution of heat. (CSA)
