Summary: | The physicochemical characteristics of a Russian-made corundum-based mixture are compared with those of a similar material from a foreign manufacturer (Rodacor CI 88/I). The Russian-made material was tested by fabricating the entire lining for the liquid-metal baths of a vertical furnace. In view of the successful service of the furnace lining made from this KSVKh-1 material, plans were drawn up for its mass production. Further studies were made of the use of the mixture as a castable and the attainment of higher performance by incorporating aluminium-magnesium spinel. |
