Summary:In the production of cement, the gases leaving the bake ovens for burning the clinker must be thoroughly purified from dust. At modern enterprises, electrostatic precipitators (electrostatic dust removers) are used for the purification of gases. Within the 'wet' method used in the production of clinker, gases coming into electrostatic precipitators have a humidity of 20-25% and a temperature of 140-190 deg C. In the case of unsatisfactory construction of electrostatic precipitators and faulty service, intensive corrosion cracking of electrostatic precipitators occurs. The aim of the present work is to investigate the character and reasons of intensive corrosion of electrostatic precipitators (dust removers). (Material studied: St3 steel.)
