Summary: | Since the proportion of cutting to non-cutting time is much higher in the case of Flexible manufacturing systems and CNC machine tools, there is more scope to optimise cutting conditions in their case and any reduction in cutting time will also have more impact. Computerised machining data banks are very helpful in determining the cutting conditions and related data accurately. To aid this process and to do additional operations like automatic tool selection APPLICATION PACKAGES can be designed for such machining data banks. This paper deals with two such application packages designed for the DATAMAC machining data bank at CMTI. These packages have been designed to suit specific requirements of the users and have been well received. They have also generated demand for similar packages in connected areas. |
