Summary: | There is a change in the chemical composition of molten glass and in the melt temperautre during founding in a cold-crucible induction furnace. This leads to a change in the electrical properties of the molten glass and hence in working coil parameters. An automatic control system is necessary in order to control the founding temperature regime, identify glass production conditions, create an automated technology and improve the operational reliability of the equipment. Major problems which the system is designed to solve are listed. The main parameter is the melting temperature which must be held constant over the entire melt volume. Conditions for melt temperature stability were obtained mathematically. A control system for an induction furnace (Kristall-403) is outlined. A mathematical model was used in designing the system. 4 refs. |
