High-yield synthesis of Si sub 3 N sub 4 /SiC ceramic materials by pyrolysis of a novel polyorganosilazane
The action of basic catalysts such as KH on the ammonolysis products of CH sub 3 SiHCl sub 2 , (CH sub 3 SiHNH) sub n , results in formation of polysilazanes of intermediate 600- 1800 mol wt. Pyrolysis gives mixtures of Si sub 3 N sub 4 , SiC, and C, in yields of 80- 85%.
