Description
Summary:Major end users continue to work with automation vendors and OEMs to agree on terms, models and workflow standards that could halve the costs for design, construction and startup of manufacturing/packaging lines, according to some estimates. More than 100 people from over 70 companies are pushing on with education, review and working groups to harmonize Open Modular Architecture Controls PackML guidelines with American National Standards Institute/Instrumentation, Systems and Automation (ANSI/SIA) and .02 and S95 Part 3. The effort is moving along. It began Sep 2004 with a name and definition of principles, worked through terminology by October, and has several milestones later this year on the way to targeting an ANSI/ISA standard by early 2007 and an IEC standard in 2008.
