Description
Summary:The concentrations of ozone (O sub(3)), nitrogen dioxide (NO sub(2)), sulfur dioxide (SO sub(2)), CO and PM sub(10) concentrations in Belgrade urban area, are determined. The most common multivariate methods used in environmental studies, principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis (CA) are used to find simple underlying components. The day and night data are separated according to the different ozone production processes. Unlike characteristic afternoon maxima for summer periods, night time ozone, maxima are observed. The wind speed influence on the ozone levels is more pronounced during the night when ozone concentrations exceed the daily concentrations as a consequence of ozone transport effect. The lack of significant correlation between O sub(3) concentration and solar radiation indicates low level of O sub(3) photoproduction.
