Summary: | Horizontal and vertical advective CO sub(2) fluxes at three forest sites are compared. First results from a comparison of ADVEX field experiments performed at CarbonEurope-Integrated Project (CE-IP) sites in Renon/Ritten (RE), Wetzstein site (WS) and Norunda site (NO) are reported. It is demonstrated that for WS site a small vertical [CO sub(2)] gradient results in small vertical advection (F sub(VA)) even if there is a significant non-zero mean vertical wind component. At the NO site, the large vertical [CO sub(2)] gradient causes occasional large values for F sub(VA), either positive or negative, depending on the sign of the notably very small vertical wind component. It is concluded that advection affects the different sites in different ways. |
