Summary: | Halpin et al assess the Physiology Understanding (PhUn) Week experiment on the cardiovascular system. By participating in this PhUn Week activity, the students benefitted in several ways. Through this experience, the students learned more about how their bodies work, the value of regular exercise, and benefits of exercise on the cardiovascular system and to overall health. All four goals of this study were achieved: the students met a practicing physiologist who visited the classroom; the physiologist performed an experiment with the students; the fourth-grade math and science curricula were integrated; and the Next Generation Science Standards and NECAP GLEs were fulfilled. |
