Summary: | In 2011, our Department Chair convened a task force of nine departmental faculty members to design a pilot program to enhance the academic skill-set and overall professional development of junior CE faculty. Ultimately, it was determined that the program would have a short list of primary goals: (1) assist each faculty member in forming a personalized mentoring team; (2) provide small-group sessions to teach specific skills deemed important for career development and growth; (3) foster and support development of a peer support/mentoring network through regular meetings; and (4) assist each member in formulating their individual career goals. [...]it was hoped that the program would enhance the recruitment of talented CE faculty. The task force decided that a group of 8–12 participants could ensure a diversity of interests and experience, without diluting a sense of group identity. |
