Description
Summary:Aim: In-line skating is important for gaining fitness level, which is confirmed by the number of selling figures and the increase in in-line marathon participants. The basis for reaching preventive effects of a healthy training with in-line skates is the prophylaxis of accidents ("Safer Skating"). Method: 270 in-line-skaters aged 16 - 69 (38.8 plus or minus 9.9) years, 118 men, 152 women took part in a training program for a period of 21 weeks. Two groups were created: the Experimental group EG (n = 109; 41.3 plus or minus 10.6 years) and the Drop-Out group DOG (n = 161, 37.2 plus or minus 9.0 years). EG participated in the training program and in the pre- and posttest, DOG only took part in the pretest and joined the training program irregularly. The examination method included a field-test with in-line-skates for the determination of the velocities corresponding to 2 mmol/l and 4 mmol/l lactate acid concentration (LA, v2, v4: first level: 10 km/h, increase: 3 km/h every 5 min, rest: 1 min between each level). The well-being was controlled by MDBF prior to and after the field test. The experiment was done in a pre-/posttest-design. Results: In EG, v2 and v4 increased (p < 0.05), MDBF remained constant, and the maximum values of speed and LA were higher after the treatment (p < 0.001). Compared to DOG, EG had a higher v2 at the pre-test (p < 0.05). 74 participants took part in the in-line-marathon-event in Cologne and managed the marathon distance (mean speed: 17.8 plus or minus 2.3 km/h, 144.4 plus or minus 18.5 min). Summary: The effects seen in EG after the training program were based on physiological adaptations as well as on a better inline technique. A well-structured training program is the basis for the participation at competition level in popular sport. In-line skating has positive influences on physiological parameters and is an effective activity for preventive training programs.
