Description
Summary:The power available in the drawbar and in the power take-off, as well as the torque reserve, is some of the main features to be analyzed in agricultural tractors. Accordingly, the current study was conducted aiming to assess the parameters related to the power and torque of agricultural tractors equipped with tires commercialized in Brazil, regarding four groups of power and traction types. The study was done by means of information gathering on 191 agricultural tractors. The information was gotten from the specimens' catalogs. In some cases it was measured in loco, when it was not found in the catalog. The power parameters available for power take-off, drawbar pull and torque reserve were estimated; but some of these parameters were evaluated under different soil conditions. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistical tools in order to compare the specimens. The super heavy tractors with front wheel drive assist have more torque available in normal engine power, in PTO at 540 rpm and torque reserve. The specimens within the mid power and 4x2 FWD traction are more representative in the national market, corresponding to 47 and 79%, respectively.
