Summary:According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, from 1992-2012, the textile and apparel industry in North Carolina lost 86.7% of its employees, more than 200,000 jobs. According to the 2012 USDA census of agriculture, the state is the nation's top producer of poultry and eggs in terms of annual sales, $4.8 billion, and ranks No. 2 ($2.9 billion) for hog production, after Iowa, with big feedlots in the southeastern portion of the state.
