Description
Summary:Characteristics of the plasma layer (a plasma antenna of dipole type), excited by the radiation of a transmitter such as the carrier density distribution over the radius of the dielectric tube (near the boundary) and the growth rate of the plasma region along the tube length are considered. It is shown that it is possible to distinguish such typical dimensions as the radius of the dielectric tube, the radius of the plasma column, and the thickness of the skin layer, and, depending on relationships between these dimensions, consider the influence of the transition layer on excitation of the surface wave in the plane or cylindrical symmetry.
