Description
Summary:A speech on Reflections On Leadership in the Museum World From An Outsider, addressed by The Huntington Library Art Collections and Botanical Gardens president Steven S. Koblik, is presented. He realizes -- and he realized particularly as he was preparing this, that the issue of running museums has become a very hot topic in the broader world. He wants to talk about six things, which to him are very very important, and then allow that to be used for Q&A. So the six things include: Good work does not guarantee survival. The second point he's going to make is that multiple constituencies inside nonprofit organizations often lead to confusion about what the mission of that same institution is. The third point is: Different audiences demand different approaches. The fourth point is you can't prioritize your programs and the audiences you wish to serve if you don't understand and have good control over financial capacity.
