Description
Summary:I consider it a privilege to work with AA editor-in-chief Michael Chibnik to ensure that compelling and important contributions appear in the world anthropology section of AA. In 2013, my predecessor Jim Weil wrote a very lucid introduction to this section, clearly outlining both his vision and what the American Anthropologist intends by including such a section in at least two issues of the journal each year. I seek to continue Jim Weil's lead by looking for work on practices, influences, debates, challenges, and individual anthropologists not always known in U.S. anthropological circles, except perhaps by colleagues who work in those geographic, societal, or cultural areas. I also aim to make these contributions as interactive, open for discussion, and readable as possible, especially given the broad range of anthropologists and interested others who read the journal in the United States and around the world.
