Description
Summary:This paper starts from the analysis of the data on the growing poverty and social exclusion in the EU and the consequences of social policies cut backs. Amid this situation, we focus on how the European Union currently understands the concept of social market economy and the balance, or its lack, between the competitiveness stimulus and social justice. With this aim, the recently launched initiatives that illustrate this approach will be considered, like those related to social business, social innovation, corporate social responsibility or social investment.
