Summary:[...]we want to report this case to increase awareness among the medical community (1) to advise patients being prescribed Opana about the risks involved if abused intravenously and (2) recognize Opana IV use as a possible cause of TTP when encountered in the inpatient setting. On physical examination, she was febrile at 38.5°C with a blood pressure of 142/108 mmHg, equal in both arms, tachycardic at 139 beats per minute, and tachypneic at 36 breaths per minute with 95% oxygen saturation on room air.
