Summary:Upon arriving to a new country, Chinese immigrants often face numerous cultural and language barriers which prevent them from accessing the health care they need. There is currently no existing structured course for teaching cultural competence at the University of British Columbia (UBC). It was out of a desire to help these new immigrants that the student-led initiative Bridging the Gap was born.
