Summary:Little is known about the habitat requirements of Elf Owls outside of the Madrean evergreen woodlands. This study was designed to examine nest site selection by Elf Owls in the Sonoran Desert. Objectives were to detect associations between the abundance of Elf Owls and selected characteristics of vegetation, and compare the availability and use of cavities in saguaro cacti as nest sites.
