Summary: | Physical examination revealed obesity (body mass index 41 kg/m2), abdominal distension, and a large, firm abdominal mass in the right hemiabdomen and suprapubic region. Patients with chronic constipation with megacolon and/or megarectum should be treated medically, surgery being the treatment of choice for refractory cases.2-4 Although they are uncommon, complications of fecal impaction such as intestinal obstruction or even colonic perforation may occur and emergent surgical treatment is then required. |
