Description
Summary:Daniel Defoe has been alleged to have connections with Applebee's Journal publisher John Applebee. William Lee, in his three-volume 'Daniel Defoe: His Life, and Recently Discovered Writings,' has theorized that the author wrote all the 'Letters Introductory' or lead articles as well as many other news items in the Applebee's Journal. Since Applebee focused on publishing the lives of criminals hanged at Tyburn, Lee has also concluded that Defoe also authored the various colorful articles on criminals that appeared in Applebee's Journal. Lee further maintained that Defoe may have been the one who interviewed prisoners in Newgate for these articles.
