Summary:Production facility layout planning is an important issue and a major cornerstone in the industrial world. Facility layout can be defined as arranging factory facilities to support efficiency and productivity. PT. ABC’s warehouse layout in Purbalingga is not quite well organized. Product arrangement is placed anywhere as long as the empty shelf and divided by raw material and finished goods. Therefore, this study was conducted using the shared storage method to cope with low space utilization. The process of product placement in the shared storage method is to arrange storage areas based on the condition of the warehouse floor area and closest to the entrance and exit. The results obtained with this method are according to the comparison of material handling costs above. According to the comparison, the cost of material handling (with a forklift) in the initial layout is Rp. 238,445.32/m2, and in the proposed layout of Rp. 141,917.93/m2. Thus, the material handling layout savings of the proposed layout is 40.5%.
