Summary: | A novel parabolic quantum well with an off-center dimple potential is proposed for intersubband nonlinear optical applications. This potential profile has self-asymmetry and acts as a double quantum well. The nonlinear optical effects, namely intensity-dependent optical rectification and absorption, are investigated as a function of the parameters of the quantum well. The effect of the externally applied static electric field is also considered in the calculations. Our numerical results indicate that the corresponding optical processes strongly depend on both the direction and the strength of the applied static electric field, as well as on the structural parameters, such as the height and the width of the dimple potential. |
